This is made and put into a spray can so is easy to use. generally takes 2 cans to cover the entire engine but is possible to get the job done with one can if the engine has base color close to the final color. From the factory these engines had very little paint on them and there were many bare spots and light spots. the bottom of the oil pan was a dusting but the valve covers were usually pretty nice since that is all that you saw. We do a ton of research on our paint colors so they are as accurate as the factory. There is a lot of conflicting information on the internet and some is right but getting to the bottom of is nearly impossible. 1. There is no correct cheap paint on the market, that is why is cheap. Cheap = Wrong. 2. Most of these engines were made in several plants with different manufactures of the original paints so there are many shades that are considered the same color. We pick the most common shade. After paint heats up and cools down a thousand times the color changes or burns off. So to find a correct color we use only parts that are original and that have not been heat cycled. 3. Most companies can lower the cost of the paint by putting less paint in the can and more propellant (Compressed ) So while you you are getting paint is mostly and that is why with cheap paint takes so many coats. When paint flashes off very fast is mostly propellant. 4. The paint cost more because is a color made for us and has the right amount of paint in the can and is a higher grade product.
